Adventure 3 - The Village Part 2

After defeating the Troll last adventure our brave team of explorers continue further down this newly crafted cavern. Towards the rear of this large area they find some hay and determine it to be the Troll's sleeping area - upon inspection they find a locked trunk that Misty is able to disarm and open! Within they find some coins, some gems and a gold statue.

Pressing on down the narrow corridor they locate a secret door - Shenrek listens and hears some movement in the other room - they burst in demanding to know who the three fighter types are. They learn that they are there to meet with Galyn... Misty, with quick thinking prevailing, informs the bandits that he is Galyn (with a little bit of bluffing). They buy it!

They learn that the three bandits come from another group and are in discussions to possibly merge with Galyn's troupe of miscreants. Misty and the boys dodge some tough questions but satisfy the bandits well enough and tell them to go to the tavern for drinks on him (Galyn) and they will meet up later.

After the bandits have left our band of merry men, elf and gnome they follow them out - they travel up a tall staircase, not much to Vashrah's liking, and out of a secret door in a tree in the area behind the elder's home. Vashrah performs some public disservice by scrawling graffiti on the tree disparaging Galyn.

A debate breaks out on what to do next - the Hand shares his concern of all the different pieces at play... in the end the group decides to return to Ted the farmer's for some well-deserved rest while Vashrah heads off to inform William of the events and to stay at the Inn.

Brave? Yes - dangerous... very!

As it is late she has to wake William who lets her into his store and she shares what has happened and asks if he could raise some of the townsfolk for battle. He says he will and accepts the invitation to rendezvous at Ted's in the morn.

She presses on to the Inn - it is late and there are only a couple of bandits within. She navigates the area successfully and makes it to the Inn-keeper's wife. She secures a room and tells the lady of the battle plans for tomorrow and for her to spread the word that the townsfolk should leave or get out of sight.

As the night goes on and Vashrah has had her rest she ventures off into the town alone - sketchy! She is stopped by a night guard who questions why she is out after curfew. Luckily she is able to explain herself well and with the benefit of being a rather pretty elf she is able to head back to the Inn easily. She sets out to meet the others at Ted's in the morning.

The rest of the team enjoy a great feast at Ted's! Much pork, beef and mead is consumed - Shenrek is pleased! They all get some rest for the next day's events.

At daybreak everyone gathers outside of Ted's. They see William has brought with him Fo the Tavern owner, Dylan the Stable keeper, Peter the Cleaver (cook) and Bob the town's basket weaver. As rag-tag as you could get but all with strong resolve to get their town back! After some discussion on battle tactics the Hand of Heironeous speaks a short prayer of blessing upon everyone and they set out for the town.

The first item on the (hit) list is to set forth on the evil bandit, Vilnin, at the stables - the team leave the new towns guard outside to watch and they enter ready for battle. Dylan tells them that Vilnin is quite the drinker and sleeps in a stall towards the end of the stable. They head in and march down towards his area - they see him sleeping on the floor. Vashrah - thinking this is a piece of pie (she doesn't really like cake) moves to him and prepares to place her sword at his neck but you shouldn't sell Vilnin short - as quick as a cat he reaches out, grabs her arm and throws her to the side! In an instant he is on the rest of the party attacking with his 2 handed great sword.

The party doesn't notice the 2 guards sleeping in the other stall behind them and they also join the fray - Vilnin is a great fighter with much sword finesse but in the end a stumble creates a miss-swing and he lodges his sword in a post of the stable. He is caught off guard and knocked unconscious. The party revives him and Misty uses some gnomish intimidation to try to gather some information. Vilnin tells them that Mary being held at the Inn but they are probably too late.

The Hand cannot hear anymore - his disgust for this vile person has reached its limit - he raises his holy sword and dispatches Vilnin. The others are confused by this seemingly cruel act by one of such goodness.

They search the bodies and the area and locate a jeweled dagger, some coin, a vial of oil and some very shiny gold earrings on Vilnin's body. They prepare to head over to the Inn to save Mary.

A plan is hatched where Misty will enter the establishment first to scout it out and then try to blend into the shadows and search for Mary. Shenrek, Bree and the Hand will enter boldly from the front and when ready, Vashrah and the new town guard will enter from the rear of the building.

As Misty enters the Inn he sees that it is in complete disarray - the Inn keeper is nowhere to be seen and the bandits have taken over. The confusion is helpful and he is successful in sneaking upstairs and with the help of one of the "ladies" he is able to locate Mary. The only catch is the rather naked Assassin hovering over her tied up body! Misty loses it and charges in for the attack and comes out victorious!

Shenrek, Bree and the Hand burst in the front door and see the room filled with many bandits and at the back of the room - Burl the HUGE ½ Ogre. They engage with the closest bandits and a massive bar brawl breaks out.

Waiting for the right moment - Vashrah and her team of elite prepare themselves. Once the fight begins they charge in and surprise the bandits. It is an epic battle and in the end only Burl is standing with some of the town's guard on the ground. The party moves in on Burl and as a group manage to overpower the huge creature.

Just when they think it is all over three orcs enter the Inn - Misty, above them on the second floor jumps out of the window to engage! Another skirmish breaks out but Misty, the Hand and Bree manage to defeat the orcs. The remaining members aid the fallen town's guard and stabilize them.

The party wonders where the orcs came from?? The Hand, concerned, surveys the distance outside the door and views three bandits on horseback followed by a troupe of orcs - in a quiet voice he says:

"I have a bad feeling about this..."
